FAQ's

Here are some frequent questions that in all honesty we get too often to keep answering via direct correspondence. This should help you navigate some basic things that you might be curious about with Garland FX:

LAST UPDATED 6/23/2019

CAN I CUSTOMIZE MY PEDAL? WILL IT COST ME EXTRA?
We offer a limited menu of LEDs, Knobs, and Finishes when it comes to your order from our pedal shop, and we encourage users to choose from it when they order. However, please keep in mind when Pat offers user's options, that is a LIMITED menu. If there is a color, knob, finish you want and we feel it is not available or achievable, we will have to say no. If your customized option is not in stock or presents an additional build cost - we will likely contact you to approve or decline the option. Otherwise; we try to keep most requested knobs, finish colors, and LEDs in our house stock.

HOW DO I SPECIFY THE OPTIONS I WOULD LIKE?
When you place an order for a product, it includes your standard options - or you can add into the 'comments' section your requests from the limited Finishes and Options menu.

CAN I ORDER A CLONE, CUSTOM PEDAL OR SOMETHING THAT ISN'T ON YOUR MENU?
Unfortunately at this time we are encouraging players to select from our current build menu. This keeps things flowing and generates a better overall experience for clients. We have done custom pedals in the past and it has gone well sometimes and others not-so-well. We just don't feel that it is good to devote extra time to projects that could put our everyday customers timeline in jeopardy. However, we do know plenty of other people that we could recommend you to for a custom pedal. So don't hesitate to contact us if you need a suggestion.

DO YOU REHOUSE PEDALS?
Nope.

HOW LONG DOES IT USUALLY TAKE TO GET MY PEDAL?

We give clients 10-15 Business Days for the pedal to be finished and on it's way to your door. That means just about 3 weeks. Patrick always tries to get your pedal out within one week, but we ask for a bit of patience with your pedal order - great things aren't rushed! But that being said, we try hard to get these built, tested, packed, shipped, and on your board in around 3 weeks. We provide updates and photos of the pedal as it is completed and before it ships. Sometimes parts vendors are out of stock, or the mail doesn't run as fast as we want it to - so don't fret, we're doing our best to get it to you as soon as possible within reason. We provide detailed tracking to every client and update via email, etc when anything is sent out.

I'M JUST NOT FEELING THIS PEDAL, OR I WANT SOMETHING ELSE - CAN I RETURN OR EXCHANGE MY PEDAL?
Visiting our Policies page will get you all the details about exchanges/returns. Patrick offers 7 day returns, and 30 day exchanges. If you feel you need to return the pedal and recuperate your funds, email us within 7 days from the day the pedal is marked as delivered and we will work your return out. There is a 15% restocking fee on returned pedals. Exchanges can be initiated within 30 days of the pedal's delivery update. Just email us and let us know why you're unhappy and we will see if there is a better pedal we can offer you. We highly encourage players to exchange a pedal for something else before going down the refund rabbit hole.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
Yes, we charge 25$ for basic USPS International First Class shipping. It takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on your location and or your post office speed/customs. Additional pedals are 15$ extra. SHIPPING GLOBALLY IS EXPENSIVE, AND SHIPPING RATES INCREASE ANNUALLY.

I'M NOT SEEING AN UPDATE ON TRACKING. IS MY ITEM LOST?
No. The USPS isn't perfect. Sometimes they miss a scan, or they incorrectly scan an item. The truth is that usually they are doing their job, but the computer system for one reason or another is not reflecting the actual movement of the package. That being said, the tracking from USPS has been relatively accurate and reliable since around 2014. Please go by our ETA via the Client Build List. If your package has not arrived by then and the tracking is acting funny, we will step in and figure out what is going on and if possible correct any issues that arise. Please keep in mind, once a package has a tracking number and we drop it off with the PO, it is basically up to the USPS to track and deliver the item.

MY PACKAGE SHOWS ' USPS AWAITING ITEM ' - IS MY SHIPMENT OK?
Yes, everything is fine. We can't make the USPS scan their intake of items faster, some days they are slow, some days they are fast. When your tracking # is created, that's a label being printed. Please give us a day to allow the USPS to receive and process your package. We drop our packages off within the same day of tracking being uploaded, but we can't guarantee that it will be quickly scanned and moving immediately. In some cases a package may take up to 24 hours to update.

I MISSED A SALE OR AWESOME DEAL, CAN I GET ANOTHER CHANCE AT GREATNESS?
We know the routine. It happened. You missed the deal. It wasn't payday, or maybe you just didn't have enough bread at the time or you just bought some other awesome pedal or piece of gear. We get it. It's ok! Just email us - in most scenarios we are willing to grant a loyal fan or serious purchaser a deal they missed. It happens, we understand.

DO YOU RUSH SHIP ITEMS?

We don't like to rush our work. Patrick doesn't like to take on clients that are in a massive hurry to receive a customized pedal. We are not Guitar Center, we are not McDonalds, and we are not Amazon. We are an artisan workshop and we take extreme pride in our work. Each one of Patrick's pedals is built with precision and quality. Every step of the build process is taken in a paced process as to not end up with a flawed product upon rushed completion. If you're in a big hurry to get a special pedal, we don't recommend ordering. We'd rather you be willing to wait with the natural time it takes to build the pedal, about 2 weeks. HOWEVER - if you are moving, not home, etc. need a specialized shipment - that is a different story. If you need us to hold a shipment for a better time, or mail it to a better address for delivery while you are on the road or away just email us and we'll take care of everything.

MY PROJECT WAS TERMINATED AND I RECEIVED A REFUND - WHAT HAPPENED?
Please read the last portion of our policies page. The likely reason for a project cancellation was unrealistic expectations or demands during the build process or someone became an unruly client. We do reserve the right to end our business agreement at any time due to unreasonable project requests or being uncooperative with our policies. Keep in mind; you will receive a full refund.

CAN I PUT TAP TEMPO ON MY COSMO DELAY?
The short answer is unfortunately no. Patrick had a pedal in the early 2010's called the Space Station Delay. It was a Tap Tempo + Modulation version of the Cosmo Delay. Good luck tracking one down! It was awesome but sadly after about 10 units began to suffer from serious noise issues that made certain units unplayable - causing returns that were never really reconciled besides a refund. We have a policy - if a pedal goes through a run of 10 units and suffers issues in at least half of them - it is discontinued. We might visit this again in the future, so don't feel too lost in space.

DO YOU WORK WITH DEALERS?
We are currently encouraging purchasers to visit our site and purchase from our menu. However, you can visit the DEALERS page and see if there is anything available from our previous dealer interactions.

WHAT HAPPENED TO GGS (GARLAND GUITAR SERVICES) ?
GGS will always have a place in our hearts, it's where this all began. GGS was an extension of Patrick's previous guitar-tech life before pedals took over. He originally started building pedals under GGS with a signature as Patrick Garland. Since 2015 we have evolved into Garland FX - paying more attention to the true core of Pat's gear-creating passion.
